In 1971, TAMPCO was founded under the name Tabuk Credit Cooperative Union Incorporated by 33 members of St. Thomas Parish Church at Dagupan West, Tabuk City. The cooperative was formally organized on March 14 of the said year and was registered to the Cooperative Administration Office (CAO) on October 21, 1971 with a starting paid up capital of P1,235.00 pesos. The main service of the Coop were credit and savings. In 1975 the asset growth of TCCU reached around P250,000.00.

1976 the growth of TCCU was hampered until 1980. There were no new members, there was high delinquency and withdrawals could not be controlled. it was considered the darkest days of the cooperative.

In 1981, TCCU improved management. The initiative of Mr. Manuel Dulawon, then the CEO of the coop, to educate members and train employees and officers made a great impact on the operations of the cooperative. Total assets plummeted to P100,000.00. 1984 TCCU reached its first million mark of its assets. It was the start of a new beginning and a promise for a brighter future. By the end of the year, TCCU had P2,145,073.86.

In 2015, TAMPCO reached a total number of membership from 33 in 1971 to 12,928 with a total asset of P958 million. 2016, TAMPCO recorded its first billion mark of assets (P1,082,853,887.00) under the leadership of CEO Elmerli L. Colangan. During his time made remarkable accomplishments such as the expansion of businesses and branches as well as the increase in the number of members by three-folds.

2021, TAMPCO’s assets in September of this year reached P2.2 billion (P2,292,359,570.00). The past five years is the period when the cooperative recorded the largest economic growth rate in  its history. According to the officers, it is the values of honesty, transparency, thriftiness and fear of God that are behind the secret to TAMPCO dramatic rise. In the same year TAMPCO turned 50 years old and celebrated its golden anniversary. The Cooperative likewise secured for itself and members another 50 years of permit to operate from the Cooperative Development Authority under the leadership of its new CEO Rev. Claudio L. Bagano. TAMPCO has a total of 42,513 members as of September 30, 2021.

At 50, TAMPCO now provides various financial services which include credits and deposits, Pinoy Coop ATM, TAMPCO Lab Coop and Climbs Assurance Center, 4 allied services – TAMPCO Inn and Training Center, Gasoline Station, Water Refilling Station and Funeral Care, as well as programs like mortuary aid, DPK Program, Medical missions, educational assistance and more. TAMPCO has also expanded to nearby provinces and now has 5 branches – Santiago Branch in Santiago City, Isabela; Rizal Branch in Rizal, Kalinga; Conner Branch in Conner, Apayao; Quezon Branch in Quezon, Isabela; and Pinukpuk Branch in Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
